2019 RENEWAL CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • All licenses regardless of issuance date, are subject to renewal triennial by June 30, every three (3) years, (2025, 2028, 2031)
On-time renewals for the licensing period of July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2028

Licenses not renewed by license expiration date are unlicensed and may not practice.

Restoration Information
(Restore within 1 year after license expiration)
Forfeited licenses may be restored within 1 year and subject to meeting restoration requirements.
(Must restore by hardcopy only)
Failure to restore a forfeited license within 1 year after the license expiration date will result in the termination of the license and the person must apply as a new applicant and meet current licensing requirements.

Continuing Education Information
Audit of Compliance - Continuing Education Requirement 2016 - 2019 Triennium
Continuing Education Requirements Notice

All Social Worker (LBSW, LSW) licensees on an “active” status and all (LCSW) licensees must have completed at least 45 hours of Continuing Education (CE) credits that have been approved by the NASW or the ASWB; 3 credit hours shall be in ethics courses. prior to  renewing their license pursuant to HRS §467E-11.

Note: If licensed before July 1, 2016, fifteen (45) CE hours are required.  If licensed between July 1, 2016 and June 30, 2019, no CE hours are required.

The Director may conduct a random audit of licensees to determine compliance with the CE requirement.  If selected you will receive a notice from the Program and will have 60 days to submit proof of having complied with the CE requirement.  Failure to do so will result in disciplinary action being taken against your social worker license.  Licensees shall maintain their own CE records.

DO NOT SUBMIT CE CERTIFICATES WITH YOUR RENEWAL APPLICATION.
